New music happens sometimes. When it happens, it’s really nice.
Well, I’m pretty excited about Leagues. Maybe you haven’t heard of Leagues, but you’ve probably heard of The Swift, Thad Cockrell, Jars of Clay or Audio Adrenaline, in which case, you will now be a bit more familiar with this band. Thad Cockrell, Tyler Burkum (Audio A), Jeremy Lutito (Jars of Clay), and Mike Simons (The Swift) have come together and created Leagues. For this I am truly excited!
Magic- Leagues

We must move on. There is more music to be heard. Such music would include a couple songs by B. Reith.
U Should Know- B. Reith
Wish That- B. Reith

Let’s go old school for a moment, and by “old school” I mean, “not really that old school.” The Avett Brothers? Sure, we’ll add in another one of their songs.
Head Full of Doubt/ Road Full of Promise- The Avett Brothers

We threw in a little bit of the heavier Emery stuff for all of you.
Scissors- Emery

Now, maybe you already knew that Tedashii had an album come out recently. Maybe some of you didn’t know that. Either way, I hope you enjoy this song.
Dum Dum (Feat. Lecrae)- Tedashii

Of course I always have to throw in that random band that you’ve never heard of. Meet Ravello.
On Your Side- Ravello

I think there’s always room for Mat Kearney, don’t you? An old song and a new single? I think so!
Breathe In Breathe Out- Mat Kearney
Hey Mama- Mat Kearney

And finally, this band, Kopecky Family Band, is like my new fave band ever. This is a high honor, and maybe a bit of an overstatement, but I am definitely excited to have added them into the rotation. And because I like them so much, I put in two songs!
Howlin’ at the Moon- Kopecky Family Band
God & Me- Kopecky Family Band

A new month calls for new music! Today I was inspired by electronic music, so I’m sure you will notice some wonderful, dance inducing tunes floating your way.
I’m the kind of person that likes to dance. I’m not at all elegant… nor am I graceful. My moves usually stem from more ancient roots. I don’t ribbon dance. I think of my appendages as being more like ribbons and I just kind of flail them around in an awkward fashion. I don’t dance with agility and precision. Most often I am off beat and fumble around the dance floor. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Enjoy this weeks new music!
Family Force 5 has been working on a new album and recently released III EP. If you want to purchase it, go for it… or you can just tune in on the radio to catch it sometime.
You Got It- Family Force 5

Moving right along… As you may or may not already know, Owl City will be releasing a new album, All Things Bright and Beautiful very soon. The expected drop date is June 14th. That won’t stop us from grabbing singles when Adam Young throws them out to us.
Galaxies- Owl City
Speaking of albums dropping soon, look out for Swimming with Dolphins. They have an album expected later this month. We added in the following song in order to prep for the new album.
Sleep to Dream- Swimming with Dolphins
I remember last summer I spent so much time listening to Shad’s album TSOL. I felt now was as good a time as ever to add in another track from that cd.
A Good Name- Shad
And for the sake of building up an R&B category that is often neglected, I grabbed a track from Byron “Mr. Talkbox” Chambers. By all means, I am not the greatest at picking out music for this category, so as always, send us requests and enjoy some of this “make your body” move type of music.
Get On Up- Byron “Mr. Talkbox” Chambers

Dancing music is fun and fantastic and all that, but we also added in some more mellow tunes this week. And by “mellow” I mean, “not so electronic, but still pretty awesome.”
Is anyone interested in the new album that Thrice is currently working on? Well we are, so we added in more of their stuff to get our excitement levels up. Current excitement level is at “pumped.”
All the World is Mad- Thrice
In Exile- Thrice

Write This Down is a band that is new to the Fresh Life Radio airwaves. Who’s ever heard of them? Not me until today, but let’s get the word spread about them! Check out this new song we added!
Hand Grenades- Write This Down

Jesse, the early morning DJ, recently went to Texas to catch a Matt Wertz show. He came back and was super stoked on this song from his most recent album, Weights & Wings!
Running Back to You- Matt Wertz

I have a little story to tell you about this next song. Sunday morning, one of the students who sets up for Fresh Life Students asked me, “Hey Elisha, there is this song that used to play on the radio all the time. Do you know which one it was… it went like, ’something, something, something…’” My first thought was, “There is no way I am going to be able to identify this song.” Then he continued, “‘… it rolls around on account of a bunch of scientific stuff…’” That’s when my Shazam skills kicked in and I realized I knew a lot more about the music we play than I thought. It was Bradley Hathaway with the song, “Look Up.” I was inspired so I added another song this week.
The World is Screaming- Bradley Hathaway

Here’s the new music on the station this week. Enjoy!
Abandon just released their new album, Control. Obviously we just had to throw in a couple new songs.
Feel it in Your Heart- Abandon
Talk to Me- Abandon
Son Lux also just released a new album! If you like the more electronic things in life, you may enjoy We Are Rising.
Rebuild- Sol Lux
And because it’s been a long time since we threw in some Phil Wickham worship, I figured now was as good a time as any!
Come Alive- Phil Wickham

Joy Williams always makes fun music and the song we put on the radio this week is proof.
You’re My Favorite- Joy Williams

How about a little bit of Deas Vail with a little bit of hand clapping for your ears to dance to?
Under Our Skin- Dead Vail
And finally I added in a new Brooke Waggoner just for fun.
Red-Robin Hood- Brooke Waggoner

Have fun with the new music this week and let us know via facebook and twitter what else you’d like to hear!

We don’t have a whole lot of new music to add to the radio this week, but here’s something to hold you over until next week.
First of all, you probably haven’t heard of Christie Dupree, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve heard of her family’s band Eisley. Christie is the younger sister of the members of Eisley and I’m sure you’ll be able to hear the similarities in her music.
Apologies- Christie Dupree
Come with Me- Christie Dupree
Behold the Brave is a band that is new to Fresh Life Radio. I enjoyed listening to their music so much that I opted to add in two songs from their Lost in the Woods album.
Oh to Sleep- Behold the Brave
The Woods- Behold the Brave

The Appleseed Cast is also new to the station this week. Just one song for them, but it’s a good one so enjoy!
Middle States- The Appleseed Cast

Sure, it’s been a year since Fireflight released their album, For Those Who Wait, but I felt it was time to add in some new tunes from them. So, what’s new? Well, here is what’s new:
Middle States- The Appleseed Cast

And because I can never get enough of the sweet theology of The Welcome Wagon I just had to add another one of their songs into the rotation.
I Am Not Skilled to Understand- The Welcome Wagon

As always, enjoy the new music this week and let us know via facebook and twitter what else you’d like to hear!

If you’re wondering why we didn’t post any new music last week it was because we decided to play an April Fools joke on all you lovely people.
So much old music in one very long 24 hour day.
With that said, I spent a little bit more time trying to find tunes to make your heart sing this week. Look out world. Fresh Life Radio is back with new music.
Freshman year in high school I spent spring break with my older brother. He lived in a total bachelor pad. He had the largest speakers on the face of the planet and a television in every room including the bathroom. My choice of music at that time was to the likes of Jars of Clay and Caedmon’s Call. That spring break my life changed. As I sat in the living room trying to watch a Christian music video show, my brother pumped out Emery’s “Walls” album. Never in my life had I hated a band so much. Emery was not Caedmon’s Call. Emery was not Avalon. Emery was not Rebecca St. James. Emery was the loudest band I had ever heard. I was mad at my brother for playing this screaming, incomprehensible music. I had no control. I was stuck… sitting on a couch… trying to listen to television and all I got was Emery. The week went by and I was back home. I remember hanging out in my room. There was that music again. Somehow I knew the words. Somehow I was rocking out. A different brother had purchased that cd. My life was changed. Throughout high school I loved Emery with a deep and profound passion. I saw them live; I listened to them day and night; I listened to them in the car despite my mothers pleas for understandable lyrics. Emery was my favorite band. Over time I lost my love for them. Maybe I just stopped listening. Maybe I started listening to other styles of music. On March 25th Emery came back to me. They came back and took my heart by storm. This new album, We Do What We Want reminds me of that “Walls” album. I am smitten.
Crumbling- Emery

Moving along, Abandon Kansas just released a new album As Astra Per Aspera. I’d like to welcome Abandon Kansas to Fresh Life Radio. It’s nice to have you guys here.
The Golden State- Abandon Kansas

Maybe you have heard of a guy named Phillip Larue. He’s won multiple music awards and visited us at Skull Church back in the day. He and his wife started a band called Us & Our Daughters. So, what were we waiting for? We had to add Songs About Us to the airwaves.
Does Anybody Know- Us & Our Daughters

Another new band to the Fresh Life Radio rotation is Mike Mains & the Branches. I love this band because they are a perfect example of the type of music we play here at Fresh Life Radio. In an interview, they said,
“Our faith is what defines us as people. But that doesn’t mean that it is always the focal point of every song. Our goal is to be real with people. We don’t want to be labeled as a Christian band. That’s such a confining term that turns so many people away. Our hope is that the love that’s in us will naturally surface in everything that we do, including our music. But we’re no worship band or anything. We just sing about life, and the way we view it and deal with it, for better or for worse.”
I love that this is a band made up of a bunch of Christian guys who play music that is relatable and genuine. They are defined by their faith and their music is a result of that, but that doesn’t mean they are only going to sing about how awesome life is as a Christian. Life can be tough. Life can be fun. Life has it’s ups and downs, even as Christians. Mike Mains & The Branches will bring you music about life.
Stop the Car- Mike Mains & The Branches
Stereo- Mike Mains & The Branches
