Do you know that feeling you get when you hear a great new song on the radio but have no idea who it is? Do you know that feeling that you get when you realize that the DJ announced the song before it started playing and you completely missed it? Do you know that feeling when you pull out your Shazam music identifier and it has no idea what you’re listening to? Well, you’re in luck… kind of. I’m here today to tell you about the new music we added to the radio this week. Maybe you’ve heard some of these songs and still have no idea who the band is. Take a listen through and see if any of them catches your ear. I’ll be back next week trying to make the stresses of your radio life fly away like the birds in the winter.
Let’s start with a little bit of Owl City. If you didn’t know, and you enjoy the tunes of lollipops in you ears, you’ll be excited to know that a new album will be releasing on May 17th. Look forward to All Things Bright and Beautiful.
Alligator Sky (feat. Shawn Chrystopher)- Owl City

Moving along, William Fitzsimmons recently released his most recent album Gold in the Shadow. His music is pretty mellow. It’s the kind of music you listen to when you just want to chill out and relax. Take a listen to the passionate lyrics and soft vocals.
The Tide Pulls from the Moon- William Fitzsimmons
Beautiful Girl- William Fitzsimmons

While we’re on the topic of soft, indie music, let me take a minute to suggest you take a little listen to Rue Royale’s new album Guide to an Escape. This album was released on March 3rd and I have no idea how I missed it’s arrival. I’ve been following their twitter, I’ve been reading their updates, but somehow this little gem managed to make it right past me.
Crater- Rue Royale
Flightline- Rue Royale

Next up: Between the Trees. Granted, this album is about a year and a half old, but I’m not one to shy away from good music, even if I am a little bit late jumping on the band wagon.
Spain- Between the Trees
For all you Panheads out there, we threw in a little treat. Skillet released the remixed album of Awake under the title of Awake and Remixed. Yep, it was released on March 22, and yes, we did pick a song to put on the airwaves. Which song? Well, why don’t you take a listen? Okay, okay, I’ll tell you after the artwork…
Hero (The Legion of Doom Remix)- Skillet

All of these songs have been a fantastic addition the the Fresh Life Radio music team, however, there is one that has struck me in a way like none of the others.
For some time now we’ve been playing music by Josh Garrels. It was just recently that Mason Jar Music released an AMAZING video that was recorded in an old church late at night. When I heard the song, not only was I drawn in by the haunting tone of it, but the lyrics are POWERFULLY filled with TRUTH. If you get a chance either watch the video or at least read the lyrics while listening to the song.
Words Remain- Josh Garrels

What is the theme for this week? Let’s just say you are at a little, indie, coffee shop in deep Texas. The coffee shop used to be a house, but now all the rooms have been turned into quaint little lounging areas with comfy couches, vintage lamps, and cozy friendships are all around. Maybe you’ve never been there before, but before you leave you’ll have many new friends. This is the kind of coffee shop that only sells fair trade and often has various non-profit organizations come in and hold events, all in the hopes of seeing justice and compassion in the world. At night, in the backyard of this coffee shop there is a stage where so many artists, both local musicians and those from around the country, will come and put their music on display for all to hear.
Think indie. Think acoustic. Think simplicity. Think beauty.
That is what music looks like this week.
