ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: 4.18.12

Trip Lee is currently at the top of the charts in the Itunes HipHop/Rap category. His latest album “The Good Life” went from #17 to #3 within a week of its release, surpassing famous secular artists such as Snoop Dog, Drake, 2pac, and Dr. Dre.

I spent some time with Trip a couple months ago in the studio and let me tell you what an influence he has been to me. Trip is all in for Christ. He is using his music to fully amplify the gospel, to reach to the lost, and to help the broken. Here is a little snippet from our time together.

Jesse: “Do you think Christian HipHop/Rap is impacting secular HipHop/Rap?”

Trip: “I think it is more and more…the more the Lord expands our platform the harder it makes it for people to ignore our music and His message. The one thing we’ve wanted to do is to infiltrate HipHop culture with the truth about Jesus. We are starting to slowly see the Lord open up doors. Just be praying for us.”

The Fresh Life Story

The time has come for Fresh Life to release a very exciting project. The Fresh Life Story is a documentary which chronicles the amazing work the Jesus has done through Fresh Life in the last five years. I’m so thrilled to have seen the things which God has accomplished and am even more excited to see the places he has yet to take us! David Crowder Band – Give Us Rest

It is bitter sweet that this is the last album ever from the David Crowder Band. It’s sad seeing one of my most favorite contemporary Christian artist’s leave the spotlight, but I am excited for this new album. There are many unique styles and genres within the album. You will go from a track with lots of build and intense-moving worship and the next will be a country hoedown. That is what makes Crowder Band’s music so good and appealing.
